Paros boasts a rich history of wine production dating back to ancient times.

Vineyards on Paros have centuries old, historical roots. The weather in the region is favorable and grape varieties thrive, so much so, that they are referred to today as organic crops.

Paros continues its winemaking tradition until today.

Most vineyards on the island employ the “aplotarias” technique (a system where vines are planted some distance apart and are left to grow along the ground without support).

The vineyards of Paros are primarily planted with the white Monemvasia and the red Mandilaria grape varieties. These two varieties yield a unique red wine, as the white Monemvasia adds aromas and softens the roughness of Mandilaria. Monemvasia is also used for the production of a dry white wine.

When in Paros, don’t miss the Moraitis Vinothéque in Naoussa, one of the most intriguing places to visit.
