If you are wondering where the best area to stay on your next visit to the island is, I will break it down for you in this post.
A large majority of visitors come for the vibrant nightlife, clubbing, and partying. If that’s your interest, I strongly recommend booking your accommodation in Chora/Mykonos town, Ornos beach, or Platis Gialos beach, as these areas are where most of the action takes place.
If you’re seeking luxury in Mykonos town, you’ll find that most of the hotels are 4- or 5-star establishments.
For those on a tighter accommodation budget, remote villages and beaches are available.
Ano Mera is a great choice for budget-conscious travelers (I adore this quaint village), but renting a car is advisable since buses mainly run between Chora, Platis Gialos, and Ornos, and accessing other villages may be challenging.
Staying by the beach is also a viable option, as most beaches are linked by water taxis!
Personally, I recommend booking accommodation around Mykonos Chora/Town where you can find reasonably priced rooms. This location is central to the most vibrant nightlife, shopping, and dining, eliminating the need for a car rental. The bus system is sufficient to reach the beaches.
For a family-friendly holiday, the Lia Beach area and the vicinity of Ornos Beach are excellent choices.
