Antiparos Island is known as the sister of Paros Island, and the ferry time depends on the type of vessel, the port of departure, and the weather conditions and varies from 10 to 30 minutes. Ferries run from both the ports of Punta Bay and Parikia Main Port.

Many travelers consider Antiparos as a day-trip destination, but there are plenty of activities to do and sights to see.

Although it is truly an ideal destination for more relaxing holidays, let’s explore the top 5 sights and attractions:

  1. The highlight of Antiparos is the stunning beaches and the whitewashed Chora (main town), with the beautiful bougainvillea hanging all over. Stroll through the amazing alleys, take a refreshing drink, and let the relaxing vibe of the island touch your soul.

  2. The cave of Antiparos is a must-visit sight and one of the biggest caves in Europe. Once you reach the short uphill walk to the cave, you will spot the most exquisite sand, about 45 million-year-old stalagmites and stalactites. Be ready, as that is just the beginning. You will need to go 85 meters deep, or about 400 steps, to reach the main cave.

  3. The Venetian Castle of Antiparos dates back to the mid-15th century. Many parts of the castle have collapsed, but the impressive entrance to the fortified area, a Gothic arched gateway, is still standing. The castle was selected as a filming location for the 1960 movie “Madalena.”

  4. Book a boat trip to the sanctuary of Despotiko Island and the sea caves, which is just a tiny, uninhabited island with huge history dating back to the late Archaic period (6th–early 5th century BC). Excavations carried out on the island since the 1970s have revealed numerous archaeological treasures, including the remains of an ancient temple dedicated to the god Apollo. The archaeological site that opened in 2018 has reopened to visitors. Additionally, the island boasts one of the most picturesque beaches, Livadi, known for its stunning silver sands and numerous captivating sea caves, perfect for diving and swimming in the crystal-clear waters.

  5. The Historical and Folklore Museum of Antiparos (Kiriaki Ragousi-Kontogiorgou). The cultural items consist of collections with significant historic and scientific value for Antiparos and the wider area.

  6. Explore the pristine beaches of Antiparos. Glyfa Beach, Apantima Beach, Panagia Beach, Livadia Beach, and Sofia Beach are only some of the numerous and most beautiful beaches on the island.
