On the northeastern side of the peninsula of Akrotirio, 20 km away from the city of Chania , on the island of Crete lies a beach unlike any other.

The wild beauty of Seitan Limania, also known as Seitan Limani, may make you wonder about its seemingly misfortunate name. In English, ‘Seitan Limania’ translates to ‘Satan’s Harbors.’ The term ‘Seitan,’ which is Turkish for ‘devil,’ dates back to the Ottoman rule over Crete. Historically, the name is thought to reference the stark rocks encircling the bay. Until 2015, Seitan Limania was regarded as one of the hidden gems of Crete.

Seitan Limania is not only known for its stunning beach but also houses two quaint chapels, Saint Raphael and the more ancient, Saint Spyridon.
