Close to Porto Heli lies one of Greece’s most renowned archaeological sites: the theater of Epidaurus.

In the village of Agios Aimilianos, situated on a cape just a few kilometers away, you will find the church of “Agios Aimilianos.”

The most prominent archaeological site in Porto Heli is the ancient town of “Halieis,” which was abandoned towards the end of the fourth century BCE. The excavated remains include fortification walls dating back to as early as the eighth century BCE, a city with a grid street plan, an industrial quarter, and residential architecture that shows signs of agricultural processing. Some parts of the city are now submerged due to rising sea levels.
