While Adamantas may be the largest village, the picturesque and historic Plaka is the capital of Milos. Take a leisurely walk through Plaka’s winding whitewashed alleys, adorned with colorful doors and balconies, and immerse yourself in its traditional atmosphere. The village epitomizes Cycladic charm.

With its beautiful Cycladic style, ample shopping opportunities, cafes, bars, and restaurants, Plaka is not to be missed.

Part of Plaka village, the Venetian Castle (Kastro) is located on a hill. It is where the first houses of the settlement were built for strategic reasons during the 13th century. Kastro is the second-highest point on the island and the most popular spot for watching the sunset. Although it requires a steep 20-minute hike, the view from the top is rewarding.
