The Panagia Chozoviotissa (Virgin Mary Chozoviotissa) Monastery in Amorgos is the second oldest in Greece, built in 1017 and renovated in 1088 by Alexius Comnenus. It is a must-see destination on the enchanting island of Amorgos, perched on a cliff and offering breathtaking views of the sparkling blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Without a doubt, it is the pride of Amorgos.

The islanders consider Chozoviotissa to be the protector of their island. The monastery is situated just below Chora on the way to Agia Anna. If you do not have a car, the easiest way to get there is by bus, with frequent services available. If you hike during the peak season, be prepared and equipped with hats and plenty of water.
