1.Rent a car.

Lefkada is a quite big island and if you want to receive the maximum experience from your trip, I recommend that you rent a car. There are so many picturesque villages, stunning beaches and sights to explore that you absolutely shouldn’t miss.

2.Choose your travel season wisely.

If you wish to avoid large crowds, opt to travel during the low season. If you cannot do that and you have to travel during the high season, wake up early and explore without the crowds.

3.Engage with the locals.

Don’t be shy asking for information, talk with the locals and learn from them. You will find it quite entertaining and I can assure you that every time you engage, you will learn something interesting.

4.Learn about the island’s history and culture.

Believe me, there is no better way to enrich and understand the place your are visiting.

5.Pack a travel adapter.

If you are travelling outside of Europe, packing a travel adapter is a must. Plugs in Europe are totally different from those in USA, Canada and UK.

6.Eat like a local.

Greece has the most incredible food you will ever taste in your life. Don’t miss the chance eating out in local restaurants even if you have booked an all-inclusive hotel.

7. Avoid drinking tap water on Greek islands.

It is not recommended, but it always depends on your location. Most islands lack natural sources of water, so the water used comes from the ocean and is processed through a desalination plant to make it safe for human consumption. Although you can brush your teeth and take a shower.

8.Last but not least, bring a mosquito repellent.

You will save yourself from dozens of mosquito bites daily! Mosquitoes in Greece will literally attack you during the hot summer nights and days and a repellent is the only answer. Thank me later for that 🙂
