Melissa Gorge is a renowned hiking trail in Lefkada, situated 2 km north of the Kavalos village in the Sfakiotes region. It begins at Kavalos and forms a 7.8 km loop. The trail is typically regarded as moderately challenging with an ascent of no more than 300 meters. If you’re fit, it should take no more than 1.5 hours to complete.

Even if you’re not an avid hiker but still wish to experience it, there’s a short trail starting from an easier point with minimal ascent. It’s a 1.86km one-way hike, and you’ll need to return on the same path. The entire route should take no more than 45 minutes to complete, back and forth.

Although the trail through the gorge was in poor condition until September 2022, with many of the wooden bridges being dangerous and most of the boards broken, I am not certain if there have been changes in the past two years.

The trail offers beautiful, lush green scenery, waterfalls, and streams. It is definitely worth the visit, and you will not regret it.
