Kastoria – The Mansions of Northern Greece
As a traveler myself, sometimes it takes me days to decide where to go and what to see when I’m planning a trip. And to be honest, the internet has its good side, but with the major booking platforms taking over the top spots and pages when you search for a destination, it ends up making it harder to make a choice.
Kastoria is located in the northwest of the country, near the borders. I cannot even begin to describe the wild beauty and untouched natural habitat of this region.
Often referred to as “The Princess of Western Macedonia,” this enchanting city on the banks of Lake Orestiada is known for three characteristic features: its natural beauty, its Byzantine churches, and the imposing architecture of its mansions, which are called “Archontika.”
