If you are visiting Milos island this year, you should know that Kimolos shouldn’t be missed.

Kimolos is the neighboring island of Milos and an incredibly inviting and “laid back” destination for relaxing holidays. There aren’t many things to see and do, which is why most visitors come to the tiny island for a day trip.

It appears that Kimolos is perhaps one of the best Cycladic kept secrets, but now you know.

Numerous half or full-day cruises are available from Milos. However, if you possess a car, consider taking the ferry—it’s a brief 30-minute journey. This allows you to discover the quaint charm of the island at your leisure. A ferry boat operates between Pollonia and Kimolos’ primary port, Psathi.

The main attractions on the island is the main capital of the island called Chorio and the excellent beaches.

Ideally, in my opinion, you’ll need a full day to explore the island, especially if you are a beach lover and enjoy discovering new beaches. Be sure not to miss a walk through the alleys of Chorio and the Kastro quarter (Venetian Castle), which may be the most picturesque part of the village. In the Kastro quarter, you will find the Folk and Maritime Museum, housed in a magnificent mansion.

If you prefer to swim in the renowned crystal-clear waters of Kimolos, Prassa-Agios Georgios (5 km northeast of Chorio) and Psathi (adjacent to the port) are both sandy and well-organized. For those looking to escape the main tourist path and truly enjoy a tranquil retreat, Kimolos stands out as the ideal destination.
