Elafonissos – The road trip to Paradise

Elafonisos, also known as Elafonissos, is perfect for relaxing vacations, offering unique activities amidst stunning scenery. Despite its modest size, Elafonisos has some of Greece’s most immaculate beaches, featuring crystal-clear waters and breathtaking landscapes.

The most well-known and famous beach of Elafonissos is Simos. Locals refer to it as Fragos-Sarakiniko, which comprises two distinct beaches divided by a rocky islet. This tranquil islet boasts breathtakingly beautiful turquoise waters, reminiscent of the Caribbean seas. It is a Natura 2000 environmentally protected zone and breeding site for many migratory birds.

The best way to reach the island is by car or bus, since the nearest airport in the area is the one in Kalamata city. Rent a car and follow the route to Tripoli and Sparti. After Sparti, you need to reach Monemvasia and then follow the route to the Molaous region.

In summary, this island stands out as a small yet noteworthy Greek gem that should not be overlooked when visiting Peloponessos.
