Corfu Island is large, and getting around with the bus system is easy. There is a reliable and affordable bus system that will save you money. However, it mainly serves the most touristy places.

If your plan is to explore as much as possible, renting a car will provide you with the freedom to move around quickly and easily. If you’re short on time while visiting the island, opting for a rental car is a smart choice. It will save you from waiting for buses and allow you to move quickly from one point to another.

If you are on a budget, the bus system is your best choice. With ticket prices ranging from 1.10€ to 2.40€, depending on your destination, you will save a lot of money, but not time. The main bus stations are located in Corfu Town, and all villages are connected to each other as well as to the major town, the airport, and the port. From July to September, the frequency of transportation is regular enough that you can access nearly all villages using it. Taxis are quite expensive but are the fastest way to get around and to the airport. There are two types of buses available: blue and green buses. The blue buses serve Corfu town, while the green buses cover long distances between the villages.

Last but not least, a great option in Corfu Town is the Hop-On, Hop-Off bus tour, which covers some of the most important attractions in Corfu. This tour allows you to explore the city at your own pace, with stops at key sites like the Corfu New Port, Spianada Square, and Achillion Palace.
