Aegina Island – What I love about this island, is that it’s a budget friendly destination.

Are you ready to discover the wonders of Aegina?

With a short ferry ride (60 min), or even shorter flying dolphin ride(30 min) from the Piraeus port in Athens, it is the perfect day trip for Athenians as well as tourists and offers a seaside escape from the noise of the Capital of Greece.

The island has several nice beaches from Kolona to Perdika, Agia Marina to Souvala, Marathons to Tourlos, and Kavouropetra. You will surely find one that fits your needs or simply discover a new beach every day!

If you are adventurous, hike to Palaiochora, the ‘Miniature’ Mystras, the perfect trail combining nature with cultural exploration.

Be sure not to skip the half-day boat excursion to the quaint Moni Island, renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise waters.

If you are lucky enough to visit Aegina in September, you must attend the Fistiki Festival, which celebrates the famous local product of the island: pistachios. The Aegina Pistachio Festival is the island’s grandest celebration, uniquely intertwining the fruit with the island’s identity.

Finally, make sure to visit the Temple of Aphaia, one of the most significant archaeological sites in Aegina. Once you’re there, the breathtaking panoramic view from the hilltop is not to be missed.

Located not far from the temple is the Archaeological Museum of Aegina.
